14 October 2002 (Monday): from the notepad

funny to think that all this time I was laughing
it was the saddest thing that you'd ever seen
and funny to think that all this time I was on my knees crying
it was the brightest day that I'd ever known
funny to think of all the things I could've shown

Reading blogs can lead one to believe that one knows the people writing them better than one really does. Me, I start presuming that I can write song lyrics on their behalf. Not that these are particularly good.

Blogs are also great for purging wayward thoughts, especially if you post under a pseudonym. Of course, that means that the people reading that blog are likely to learn about the face which that person presents to the world less often.

Makes me think that those who read the blog definitely might know the blogger in a context different from the 'norm.'

It's not just one's secret side or inner self that can find expression in a blog, though - it's also quite possible to publish a 'cleaner' and/or more articulate, more idealized persona. That doesn't mean the persona is necessarily fake, of course - it could just as easily be an expression of loftier aspirations.

I probably blog on the 'purging' end of the spectrum myself.

Or maybe not. I suppose I do actually complain a lot, online or otherwise.

Re: lyrics

Sounds like the blog you were reading recently has also been endowed with 100% of the U.S. RDA in angst as well ;)
